In March of 2020 my son, Corey and I attended Vintage Camper Trailer's Bootcamp in Gilroy CA at Casa de Fruita Farm and RV Park. It was cold and rainy and we had a great time meeting other vintage trailer enthusiasts and restoration gurus. I learned a lot and Corey took in info not only for trailers but in building his tiny house- a future plan around here.
Classes covered rebuilding, electric and appliances, painting, sewing and more. The location was great. Casa de Fruita has restaurants and gift shops, an ice cream shop and years of gathered rusty wonderful yard art (trucks, tractors, farm equipment) It was a good weekend!
At the end of the month I attended another trailer clinic put together by Sisters on the Fly's Sister Corps. A non profit volunteer section of the group that helps after disasters and more with food and housing and well, love for those in need. Held in Colorado Springs, Texas on a huge ranch belonging to a smart, funny, wonderful Sister named Leeann and her sweet husband Gene. I can't say enough about my adventure! We had a whole crew to feed us and trailers to work on and weather- yes- Texas weather. Stories at the kitchen table, laughter, shots! (more stories- LOL) and friendships that I am grateful for. I learned more on trailer restoration from these great ladies and more about myself as well. Luckily I did not fly out alone, Ginger, a close friend (and SOTF) who's trailer is parked on my property currently while we both work on restoration and building, was with me. We came home one day early after getting "the state is closing down!" phone calls from hubby and it was so strange walking through that almost empty airport in Dallas. Covid had begun....
So I did cram in a couple trips during 2020.....
