Palm Springs Modernism Week 2014

February 21-23rd marked our second showing of the trailer at the Vintage Trailer Show in Palm Springs during their Modernism Week. I am simplifying my trailer contents due to the sheer number of those touring and have added aluminum cross poles to my awning as well as weighted aluminum (couldn't believe I found brushed aluminum) stands to hold the upright poles  while showing on blacktop. Palm Springs is beautiful in Feb. but does have breezes that can catch you off guard. We had to take the awning down on the second day of showing last year and I am approaching this with the intent of conquering any future problems.  The cross poles act as extra braces along the edges of the awning and are made from aluminum tubes (found at a local metal supplier) and then heated at each end and flattened there with a vise so we could drill a hole to connect them to the upright poles. Our wonderful neighbor two doors down helped us out with the task- handy to have a work truck such as his two doors down! I am sure we will find many times were the pole weights will also be useful for other things as well. They are actually umbrella stands, filled with plaster & I am happy to say work and look great! Rob added a screw eye to each so we could run the pole ropes down to them also.

Joshua Tree Thanksgiving Weekend 2013

Welcomed the holiday season in with a 2 night trip to Indian Cove Campground at Joshua Tree National Park. Add some family members like my brother, Micah, his fiance', Amanda and her family and it resulted in a relaxed visit by the campfire with turkey left overs, spiced spiked cider and morning strolls in the desert. Beautiful skies after a first night of rain (good test of the awning-kind of fun to sit it out under the canvas).
